I’m definitely that chick who needs to wear a lip balm and apply it several times throughout the day to keep my lips looking and feeling smooth. Vaseline has been my number one choice for many years but having heard so much about LipGlam and spotting it at a recent event I decided to give this new balm a try.
Yassss to Topshop…y’all don’t know how happy I am for this sleeveless jacket right now. I saw this jacket back in August 2014 and wanted it for my birthday celebrations but to my horror when I was ready to purchase it, there was only one left which was on the mannequin…and wait for the worse part, it wasn’t even in my size (real tears).
Anyway let’s forget the past and fast-forward to February 2015…imagine my excitement when I pop into Topshop last week and spotted the exact jacket I wanted back in summer (tears of joy).
Let’s give Topshop a high-five for restocking this lushness of a jacket. #Happy!
Instagram is more than pictures…
Fashion is increasingly becoming mobile with the help of apps which are being used to track down must-have clothes, accessories and shoes. Check out the LIKEtoKNOW.it Instagram account! Shopping the latest trends has just got that much easier…every time you ‘like’ an image, you receive an email with links to the featured products – or several similar, ‘get the look’ items. You can literally go shopping by simply tapping an image…how lush is that?!
So everyone is rocking out in their black skinny leather trouser…meanwhile I’m over here strutting my stuff in these beige loose fitting leather trousers.
So in love with these leather trousers I recently purchased from the Zara sale. Lushness! Leather trousers are a great way to dress-up in a simple understated way.
My ‘Fashion’ week started on Thursday 11th September at the GQ style night on Carnaby Street.
The next of couple of days consisted of doing a bit of people watching (one of my favourite things to do). I love people watching not just for fashion week but all year round but there is something about Somerset House during fashion week that makes people watching even more enjoyable (oh that sounds somewhat creepy doesn’t it?!).
Monday…I attended the BloggersLoveLFW event which took place at the Penthouse, Leicester square! It was a fantastic evening as I got to meet some fabulous new brands as well as take home loads of wonderful goodies on offer which I have worn throughout the week.
Absolutely love these Telles Silk Scarve
and this necklace by Nadia Minkoff
Tuesday was rest day from London Fashion Week events but the topic was still on fashion. I went to the Google offices to talk how google can help your eCommerce business within the fashion industry. This event was organised by the guys from Fashion Forum LDN
Hump day Wednesday, I was invited to an exclusive party organised by French Connection with Troy the Magician being the guest of honour. The evening was fabulous and consisted of champagne, loads of sweet treats and a DJ playing the finest tunes with myself and a few of the other guests strutting our stuff to Candy by Cameo…check out the song here (its hard not to dance when this song comes on…ha).
On to Thursday….ah Thursday was a long but enjoyable day. I attended a total of five events on this day, some I was invited to and some I randomly stumbled upon.
First up was breakfast at Mango talking careers and viewing the latest collection.
For me fashion is more than how we look, I love hearing the story behind the brand. So you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to watch a presentation on the current collaboration G-Star Raw has with Pharrell Williams. A collaboration in which Pharrell himself initiated (this man does not only look great at 41 but is also a genius). The collaboration ‘Raw for the Oceans’…wait for it….Denim made from recycled plastic bottles. Click here to see what it is all about! What a fab idea?!
After that it was off to Joy Everley – Fine Jewellers 16th Birthday where I enjoyed cocktails and cupcakes. The jewellery range is inspired from the creators’ own desire to wear unusual, fresh and enhancing jewellery design incorporating precious metals and stones. Absolutely loved the collection!
Next I slipped into an art gallary!
Final event the day ended with a trip to the House of Fraser beauty event, as well as discounts on various beauty products the evening also consisted of cocktails and champagne as well as Music from Arize, an up and coming girl band who has recently appeared on the xfactor.
Friday….I enjoyed a Q&A session with Jasmine Guinness, model turned designer answered an arrany questions including ‘what is your style day-to-day?’ Jasmine said “Jeans and trainers due to working in a toy shop and in the evening I like dressing up in a nice dress”. Jasmine also said she likes to mix high street with designer as it is always good to mix things up.
Saturday…it was off to the Marks and Spencer catwalk show at Somerset House for London Fashion Weekend. Quite impressed with the latest offerings from M&S!
Sunday…and that is a wrap, well until next week that is! But for now I’ll be in bed catching up on my shows. #GoodStuff
This week I attended the Bloggers Love Fashion Week. It was a fun-filled couple of days with many treats on offer.
The candy bar was a great sweet treat and one I couldn’t keep away from.
As well as the sweet treats, the gifting lounge and the celebrity guests, I also received a lush manicure from Roxanne Campbell to end the evening in style.
I was recently invited to the National Luxury & Lifestyle Awards (NLLA) which took place at the Club No.41 Mayfair. The NLLA ceremony held by London’s number one luxury and lifestyle magazine, Chelsea Monthly celebrates the best luxury products, brands and services. The ceremony was hosted by television presenter Louise Gookey and televised for the Luxury Show on Sky 192. The event was a fabulous affair with Mojitos and Champagne being the choice of drink throughout the evening.
Luxury lives in the finer details – with the dress code being luxury & stylish smart casual, I opted for a simple black dress and simple gold pointed heels.
I recently received an invite along with a number of other bloggers to go behind the scenes and meet the maker of the Ilene Steele Jewellery and what a wonderful experience it was. Both the jewellery and the maker are fab! Check out the equipment used to make the fabulous jewellery.
Ilene Steele Jewellery comprises a range of rings using a unique design method that positions the stones so that they are angled towards the wearer, in a setting that looks beautiful from all angles.
On the night Ilene took us through the latest collection, ‘The Wave Collection’ which is a collection inspired by the excitement and turbulence of life; finding synergy between the shifting of ocean tides, currents and waves with the disorder and extremities of human existence.
The collection is beautiful, my favourite piece is this simple necklace with a bold stone. This is a perfect piece of jewellery that will go with any outfit. Simple and classy!
Here are a few other pieces which would go perfect with any outfit but I especially love the dressed down look.
Ilene Steele Jewellery is not about trends, it’s about style so if you like being your own person this is the perfect choice for you. The collection can be found at Wolf & Badger https://www.wolfandbadger.com/shop/designers/ilene-steele-jewellery/
I love experiencing new things…so you can imagine my excitement at going to my first festival. With this comes the responsibility of knowing what to wear. A festival is an all day thing so being comfortable has to be a priority. Being in the UK the weather is unpredictable therefore an outfit that can survive all climates will also need to be taken into consideration. Although being comfortable should be priority, one should also make an effort to look good. Just because you’re at a festival doesn’t mean you have to pretend you got ready in a tent. Festival style is about having some fun!
This is what I decided to go for:
- A hat is perfect if you don’t have an umbrella and there’s a bit of drizzle. I went for a beloved bowler hat from Topshop which I purchased last years.
- Layers: make sure you have a few light layers to survive the expected wind, rain and sunny spells. A shirt you can easily take off and wrap round your waist is a great choice to keep warm in or cool down when taken off, the taking off part is for when the sun comes out.
- Backpack: who wants to lug a heavy one shoulder bag around with them all day. A rucksack is an easy, convenient way of transporting all essential items that would be needed on the day.
- Flats: no need for heels as you will be on your feet all day! Plimsolls, trainers or wellies are the perfect choice.
A wedding is a joyful happy occasion. So why would anyone want to wear black to a wedding when they could be wearing this lush pink dress?! Wearing black (in Moks’ eyes) is disrespectful!
Here’s to making your next wedding outfit a lush one! Check out this dress from Kate Spade NY…one of my favourite designers for bright colours.
