Lushness of the Week: Back in Stock!

Yassss to Topshop…y’all don’t know how happy I am for this sleeveless jacket right now. I saw this jacket back in August 2014 and wanted it for my birthday celebrations but to my horror when I was ready to purchase it, there was only one left which was on the mannequin…and wait for the worse part, it wasn’t even in my size (real tears).

Anyway let’s forget the past and fast-forward to February 2015…imagine my excitement when I pop into Topshop last week and spotted the exact jacket I wanted back in summer (tears of joy).

Let’s give Topshop a high-five for restocking this lushness of a jacket. #Happy!

Festival season is here…

I love experiencing new things…so you can imagine my excitement at going to my first festival. With this comes the responsibility of knowing what to wear. A festival is an all day thing so being comfortable has to be a priority. Being in the UK the weather is unpredictable therefore an outfit that can survive all climates will also need to be taken into consideration. Although being comfortable should be priority, one should also make an effort to look good. Just because you’re at a festival doesn’t mean you have to pretend you got ready in a tent. Festival style is about having some fun!

This is what I decided to go for:

  1. A hat is perfect if you don’t have an umbrella and there’s a bit of drizzle. I went for a beloved bowler hat from Topshop which I purchased last years.
  2. Layers: make sure you have a few light layers to survive the expected wind, rain and sunny spells. A shirt you can easily take off and wrap round your waist is a great choice to keep warm in or cool down when taken off, the taking off part is for when the sun comes out.
  3. Backpack: who wants to lug a heavy one shoulder bag around with them all day. A rucksack is an easy, convenient way of transporting all essential items that would be needed on the day.
  4. Flats: no need for heels as you will be on your feet all day! Plimsolls, trainers or wellies are the perfect choice.

Kate Moss for Topshop

Kate Moss is back with her first Topshop collection in 4 years and I was there to witness the craziness that went down on launch day, I’m pretty sure the collection sold out within minutes.

I couldn’t say wholeheartedly that I loved the collection as some of the pieces appeared to be a little dated with Kate probably wearing the pieces when she did her last collection …(eeek sorry KateMoss/Topshop lovers). However, I don’t want to be a complete debbie downer as I did see a couple of show-stopping pieces, like this sequin dress.                                                          20140429_184539

You can definitely see the influence of Kate Moss in the collection, it has that festival/holiday/party vibe going on.

How to work sequins…

I love me some sequins! I have sequin dresses, tops and trousers and I love them all. Check out this top from Topshop.

Sequins never get old and can be worn all year round if you can master the understated base of the outfit.  Minimal colours and accessories are required to ensure you are the centre of attention and not the sequins themselves. This goes for heels as well, an understated LBD is more than enough to make you stand out. It’s a balancing act between sophistication and sheer devil-may-care dressing.
